I was born to an agnostic father, and a religious mother who taught me very little about God and Jesus. My father and mother were divorced when I was 4 years old and I was raised by my dad and step-mother. Then they were divorced when I was 14 years old, and my dad married again, this time to a much younger woman whom I didn't respect. I still didn't know the Lord.
I joined the US Air Force when I was 18, and was married within a year. That first marriage ended in divorce. I went to a church to look for a girlfriend, and as I was attending church services I heard the gospel of Christ and responded to His forgiveness and love, and was born again. I was a functional iliterate at that time, but I wanted to know the rest of what the Bible says, so I proceeded to read it.
I began to attend services at a different church where several young people were Bible College students. I applied for entrance to Bible College, but failed the entrance exam because I couldn't read. However, I was able to talk the administrators into letting me stay and take Bible courses, and the Lord taught me to read.
At the end of my first year at Bible school I remained at the campus during a 17 day Christmas vacation. I determined that I would read as much of the Bible as I could during those 17 days. All I did for 17 days was read the Bible, sleep, and eat. I started at the first verse, Genesis 1:1, and read straight through the Bible. On the 17th day I finished the Revelation, and I have never been the same. I got the picture. There was still a lot in my life that was not of the Lord, but He never left me, just as He has promised us in His word; "I will never leave you or forsake you".
I remarried at age 30, and began a business which was profitable for several years, but eventually went bankrupt. I suffered greatly because of the failure in that business, and I cried out to the Lord for direction. After many weeks of fasting and praying for direction, the Lord spoke to me saying, "Go out; invite them to My supper; it's ready!" I knew that it was the Lord speaking to me, but I didn't understand the parable until I started reading the Bible again.
Now I understand His call to me. I am to invite people to receive Him, and have fellowship with Him, and have communion with Him in His Spirit. This requires evangelism and teaching. He said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" (evangelism) and "teach all nations"(teaching).
So my wife Erma and I started New Life Counselors, Inc. in 1978, and we have been growing and selling trees and shrubs to raise funds for Christian missions to unreached peoples. Now we have started the Christian Missions Resource Center in Orlando, where we are inviting people to join us in mobilizing the Church in Central Florida to become more involved in Christ's Global Mission. What a priviledge it is to serve the Lord. Come to the Supper; it's ready! We believe that the Lord wants us to build a missionary training center, here in Central Florida, that will be instrumental in sending many missionaries into all the world to invite people to His supper in Heaven. Hallelujah!......
