Who Killed Jesus Christ?

By David L. Hunt

There is quite a controversy about the Mel Gibson film "The Passion of the Christ". The main question has been "Who is responsible for the death of Jesus Christ?" Some say that the Jews killed Christ. Others say that the Romans did it. Many are saying that it was all of us, because it was for the sins of all mankind that He died, and that includes every one of us. What do you think? Was it the Jews that killed Jesus? Was it the Romans? Was it all mankind?

I have read through the Bible many times, and I am happy to share some verses with you that show who killed Jesus. Without hesitation, I will tell you who is responsible for the death of Jesus Christ. Anyone who has read the New Testament closely knows what it says. Some of the Jewish leaders and some of the people asked Pontius Pilate to crucify Jesus - (Matthew 27:22). Then Pilate "delivered him to be crucified" - (verse 26). From these scriptures it seems apparent that some of the Jewish leaders, some of the people, and Pilate were responsible for the death of Jesus. But, the truth is, God orchestrated the whole event.

That's right. It was God, the Father of Jesus Christ who "gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life" - (John 3:16). It was God's plan from the beginning. Jesus was described by John the Baptist as "the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world".-(John 1:29). He is also described in the book of the Revelation as "the lamb slain from the foundation of the world". - (Rev. 13:8). The whole event was predestinated by God the Father, as Peter describes in Acts 3:18. As a matter of fact, "It pleased the Lord to bruise Him". - (Isaiah 53:10).

What shall we then say to these things? God delivered Jesus to be crucified and take the punishment for our sins, so that we could be saved from sin, and receive eternal life through Him. God loves you ...get used to it!

In Jesus' love ...David
